Semarapura means ‘Temple of Peace’ in Sanskrit; a fitting name for this extraordinary villa on Bali’s south-west coast. Not only does it overlook a mystical sea temple poised above Cemagi Beach, but it is also a peaceful sanctuary in itself, where everyday cares are forgotten and relaxation is de rigueur. Spread over 5000 square metres this luxurious property boasts five spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a 20-metre swimming pool, open-sided living pavilion, formal dining room, alfresco bar, media room, large gardens and a shared tennis court.

A staff team of 17 are on hand to take care of your every need: the private chef and his team will tempt you with seafood barbecues, Asian curries and Western favourites; your personal butler will be ready to mix you a gin and tonic at the bar whenever the mood takes you; the villa’s driver can whisk you away on a sightseeing or shopping trip, and the housekeepers will discreetly turn down your bed each night. With breath-taking ocean views and vibrant tropical gardens Semarapura Villa is indeed a peaceful oasis; perfect for those looking for a place in the sun that’sfar enough away from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s most popular tourist spots to forget they exist, yet convenient enough to explore them should the mood take you.

Just nine kilometres up the coast is one of Asia’s best golf courses, Nirwana Bali Golf, which has incredible views of Tanah Lot temple. To the south are Echo Beach, Canggu and Pererenan – famous for their surf and laid-back vibe. But of course there’s really no obligation to go anywhere at all – just put your feet up and relax – Semarapura Villa will take care of the rest.

Location:

Villa Semarapura is situated on Bali’s south-west coast overlooking the ocean and glistening black volcanic-sand shores of Cemagi Beach. A rocky outcrop at one end of the beach forms the foundation of the mesmerising sea temple Pura Gede Luhur Batungaus. Currents here are very strong making the sea unsuitable for swimming, but it’s a great beach for running and walking along the sands at low tide.

Within walking distance of Semarapura are only a handful of other luxury villas, but a couple of kilometres away, through the rice fields, is the pretty village of Cemagi, providing an opportunity to explore and experience the traditional Balinese way of life including colourful Hindu ceremonies.

Echo Beach, where guests can enjoy the laid-back surfer vibe, an ice-cold beer and incredible sunsets, is only 11km from the villa, while golf enthusiasts can head to the Nirwana Bali Golf Course at Tanah Lot, one of the best golf courses in Asia.

“This Villa is awesome!!”
by Teezegal at Tuesday - Mar 16, 2010
Our group had planned an 8/day diving/cruise and a 5/day villa stay. The cruise was horrid (see review of Bulan Purnama) and we were hoping our villa would not be the same. What a wonderful relief to arrive at Villa Semarapura and find only beautiful grounds and a spectacular villa. From the friendly driver picking us up at the airport until the day we left, the staff was wonderful. The rooms are very nicely decorated (soothing and clean) and everywhere you look are lush and beautiful plants. The food was so delicious and well prepared. The chef would make special requests with 10 minutes notice, she is amazing! All the staff always went above and beyond. We would definitely go back to Villa Semarapura.

“Absolute bliss”
by Kowhaikiwi at Monday - Feb 07, 2011
We finished our trip to Bali with a week at Villa Semarapura. It was absolute bliss. The villa is away from all the hustle and bustle that dominates much to tourist Bali - but all that is only ever a drive away in the Villa's van. We found the staff very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they ensured we enjoyed our time with them. The chef was fantastic and we had great meals, snacks and morning and afternoon teas! The swimming pool is huge, they have a pool table and media room, seperate dining and living pavillions.

This place is like having your very own hotel resort - you book the place and it is all yours. We are going back!

“Bliss in Bali”
by Rohit D at Friday - Sep 30, 2011
As a group of friends with 5 babies/ toddlers between us, spent several days at the villa. Was absolute bliss....

Staff - top notch, Friendly, helpful and very very welcoming.

Food - excellent. Don't worry about whats on the menu (though that is nice too), just ask the chef for whatever you would like or for his recommendations... we went with his recommendations and were not disappointed!

Accomodation and settings - five star in all aspects is an understatement.

A mark of a truly relaxing holiday in luxury... we only left the villa to visit echo beach and Taneh Lot.. (luckliy we had done a lot of sight seeing on our first visit!)

“Glorious”
by OBB123 at Friday - Oct 21, 2011
As soon as you arrive, you ask yourself how you could extend your stay, or when you could come back again. It's a beautiful place and the staff of the villa are absolutely charming - my two-year old daughter keeps asking about Uncle Wayan.

“Absolutely wonderful”
by Jane S at Saturday - Oct 06, 2012
We had the most incredible 12 days staying at Villa Semarapura. The property is beautifully maintained with extensive, immaculate grounds and the villa itself has a very well designed layout for privacy and great views. I would be very happy to stay in any one of the 5 bedrooms as they are all a good size with very nice bathrooms. We were very pleased that this was our fourth trip to Bali because once we arrived at the villa we really did not want to leave and indeed had very little reason to! The two butlers (we named Sudi and Suri) were just the best, the chef gave us great suggestions but would actually cook anything we asked for and everything was superb ... so fresh and with great flavour. Also, the morning chef was just a delight greeting me early in the morning to offer me a Bali coffee and cooking great breakfasts with fresh orange juice. From there we spent many hours beside the stunning pool before lunch and drinks poolside in the bar ... I am missing it already!!

The location is excellent, with the living room looking out over a temple with wild waves crashing constantly on the rocks. We loved the walk into the nearby town of Cemagi where Balinese life was all around us but away from other visitors, beautiful school children waving as they rode their motorbikes passed and people working in the rice fields.

“Relax in luxury”
by montfordfamily at Saturday - Jul 20, 2013
We had 7 days in Villa Semarapura with a party of 10, 3 couples and 4 kids of various ages. What an incredible place. All 5 villa rooms have fabulous private bathrooms and incredibly comfortable beds. The staff are so accommodating and the food magnificent. The setting right on the coast is mind glowingly beautiful but you are a long way from anyway. Fortunately the villa driver is on hand to take you anywhere. Highly recommend

“Relaxing, beautiful surroundings, attentive staff”
by NG-traveller at Tuesday - Jul 23, 2013
We just spent a lovely week here with friends. Ten of us stayed each couple (or children) in a lovely villa with spacious accommodation, great bathrooms, private outside showers (inside ones too) and good facilities.

The grounds, pools, bar, etc. are super and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The meals we had in were lovely and the complimentary villa car(s) took us out when we ventured further.

A couple of tips: take some ear plugs in case the tiny frogs are particularly vocal at night; bring some duty free spirits for the poolside bar and the staff will make you cocktails etc.; buy wine at the local stores. If you don't use the villa transport to collect you at the airport then ensure you have the phone numbers with you as not many taxi drivers know how to find it (head for Cemagi and follow the road until you get to the sea, then turn right at the end of the road up the narrow road with the grass strip in the middle).

“Complete Bliss!”
by lucyloo2124 at Saturday - Jul 27, 2013
We stayed at Villa Semarapura for 7 nights in July 2013. The staff where lovely, all 15 of them and you felt like you where in Paradise. On arrival we where greeted with cold drinks and balinese pancakes, along with a smile.

The pool was incredible and you could swim over to the bar. Each room (5 in total) had a bathroom, tv and dvd player, and good AC

“Outstanding service and style”
by Bel-Ware at Monday - Aug 19, 2013
It was our second visit to Semapura and it was equally fantastic. The staff are charming and very helpful and the villa beautifully appointed. I highly recommend it for families and groups. The location is extremely peaceful which is rare for that busy part of the island. It's about 45 minutes to Kuta and Jimbaran but traffic is heavier at certain times of the day.

“Blissful paradise!!”
by Niara S at Wednesday - Jun 04, 2014
Was the best holiday I've ever had in my 35 years on this planet. The staff treated us like family and looked after us so well, everything we asked for was delivered and I really couldn't fault this place one bit! The Villa is breathtakingly beautiful so much so I actually
Cried when I got there as I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. From the gardeners to the chefs, every small detail is taken care of...and every need was met....The food was wonderful and the cocktails were out of this world! And even the laundry had a magical smell when it was delivered back to me! Every sense u have will be tingling with joy when u stay here. I can't recommend this enough. If u are considering it then I would say DO IT!!! A truly magical time was had by everyone in my party and it really felt like a home away from home when we were there. It really couldn't have been more perfect and I am so grateful that I got to spend the week that I did there. I really hope I can come back again next year as it really was THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER.
